Sterilising tablets are an essential aspect of any oral appliance cleaning routine. However, its important to avoid tablets that contain harsh chemicals that may harm the user and their oral appliance.

Our recommendation is based on our own internal research and a study by the University of Hong Kong.

Oral appliances, including aligners, retainers, and night guards, are crafted from medical-grade plastics or acrylics. Despite the durability of these materials, exposure to certain chemicals found in some sterilising tablets can induce degradation over time.

When cleaning your cobalt chromium dental appliance, it's important to be wary of certain chemicals.

We advise our customers against using certain brands of sterilising tablets with their Dental pods, as they may damage the device. Unlike Zima’s sterilising tablets, which are specifically formulated for use with the Dental pod, other brands may contain ingredients that form hypochlorite ions when mixed with water.

Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, or SLS, is a common ingredient in many personal care and cleaning products, including oral appliance sterilising tablets. While SLS can effectively clean and sterilise oral appliances, it also poses potential risks that consumers should be aware of.

While sterilising tablets can kill bacteria and other germs, they may not be effective at removing plaque and other debris from your appliance. It's important to clean your dental appliance thoroughly to remove any accumulated bacteria and debris, which can cause bad breath and other oral health issues.
