During the development of the Dental pod, 100s of different cleaning cycle time and structure combinations were tested to ensure the best possible efficacy and user-experience. We selected a 5-minute cleaning cycle as is it achieved an extremely thorough clean in the same amount of time it takes to complete your nightime routine.
This finding mirrors research published by the University of Manchester's Restorative Dentistry Department.
Their research found no significant difference in oral appliance hygiene after 5 and 60 minute ultrasonic cleaning cycles, with both being equally as effective at removing bacteria compared to no ultrasonic cleaning at all.

How does the Dental pod remove so much bacteria in 5 minutes?
The Dental pod cleans using a process known as cavitation, where the device's ultrasonic technology generates microscopic bubbles in the cleaning solution. Positive pressure causes these bubbles implode, creating shock waves that gently dislodge particles and bacteria from oral appliances.
Importantly, this process takes place roughly 4,000 times a second, meaning it doesn't take long for your appliance to be receive a thorough clean.
